handful curious and committed volunteers to join our team!
Whether you’re experienced in sound, lighting,
projection, or live events or looking to gain more experience, this is your
opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on knowledge and get involved.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HISTORY? DO YOU HAVE SPARE TIME ON YOUR HANDS? THEN WE NEED YOU!
We are looking for volunteers with an interest and enthusiasm for archival work, social history or the history of British Cinema to come and help us in our archive. We have a variety of different jobs that need doing from digitising and photographing objects up to cataloguing our items. As long as you are keen to learn, our knowledgeable Archivist will be on hand to give you all the training you will require.
Recently an NLHF grant was awarded to the Electric Palace for an archivist to organise the archive and to work in cooperation with an Education & Community Engagement Officer to engage with the local community to help tell the story of the ‘Palace’. We have been working hard building the archive up ‘from scratch’ and are now at a point where we need some help. We are about to move into a larger archive space so that we can accommodate volunteers and open the archive up to the public and researchers alike. We will need some help to catalogue the many papers and photographs we have. We also have a side-project to digitise every cinema listing from its opening in 1911 to its initial closure in 1956 from local newspapers- this will require being available on a weekday, Monday, and/or Sunday morning.
