Tendring Thunderbirds 2017
+ Special Guest Paul Higgs
The Tendring Thunderbirds heady mix of Swing, Ragtime, New Orleans, Kansas City, Caribbean and Chicago music started at the Electric Palace has been an annual fixture at the cinema for 10 years. There have been numerous requests for a 2017 concert and we can confirm that the date will be Thursday 14th September. The 2016 concert raised £1,085.00 for the new Restoration Project and it is hoped to do even better this year. With many requests from fans and players for a return of the EP’s own multi-style fun band here they are again – this time plus special guest Paul Higgs who is well known for his appearances with the Chris Ingham Quartet on some of the best recent discs – such as the Hoagy Carmichael and Dudley Moore tributes. With the two trumpet / two reeds line-up the band can feature New Orleans, Kansas City, Chicago styles as well Duke Ellington, Earl Hines, Bix, Hoagy and Caribbean numbers.
