We are marking Pride Month with a special 35mm screening of Cabaret (1972)
English PhD student Brian Roberts (Michael York) arrives in Berlin in 1931 where he meets Cabaret singer Sally Bowles (Liza Minnelli) and aristocrat Maximillian von Heune (Helmut Griem). Their lives intertwine against the backdrop of a Germany which is increasingly under the sway of the Nazi Party.
The Cabaret, under the control of the slightly sinister Master of Ceremonies (Joel Grey), provides a setting for songs which comment on and mock the world outside
The screening will include a short introduction from Electric Palace Education and Community Engagement Officer Hayley Forrest and technical introduction to 35mm from David Cleveland.
