Harwich Electric Palace Trust, the charity behind the Electric Palace Cinema, is launching a new fundraising appeal to support the historic venue.
The ‘#OurElectricPalace Appeal’ will begin with two special screenings on Sunday 11th and Monday 12th August.
Join us on Sunday 11th August, when we have a UK exclusive first screening of the first two episodes of AMC limited-series Monsieur Spade, starring the cinema’s patron Clive Owen in the titular role of Sam Spade.
Owen will be with us on the evening to help launch the new fundraising appeal as well as taking part in a post-screening Q&A.
Clive Owen said; “The Electric Palace Cinema in Harwich holds a very special place in the town’s history. The fact that it is still standing and serving its community over one hundred years after it was built is truly remarkable. I am delighted to be able to help the cinema launch this new wave of fundraising activity to help ensure the venue stays open to everyone for many generations to come.”
Monsieur Spade is based on the Samuel Spade character created by American author Samuel Dashiell Hammett, which was made famous on the silver screen by Humphrey Bogart in the 1941 film adaptation of The Maltese Falcon. Monsieur Spade is created by Tom Fontana and Scott Frank, whose previous works include Oz and the Netflix smash-hit The Queen’s Gambit.
