An historical drama about Lord Mountbatten’s period as Viceroy of India. In 1947, Lord Mountbatten assumes the post of last Viceroy, charged with handing India back to its people. He lived upstairs at the house which was the home of British rulers, whilst 500 Hindu, Muslim and Sikh servants lived downstairs. As the political elite wrangled over the birth of independent india, conflict erupted throughout the House and a catastrophic decision led to global repercussions. The Viceroy meets with conflict as different sides clash in the face of monumental change. Starring Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson, Michael Gambon.
