Sponsors of the Harwich Electric Palace Trust
The Trust would like to thank all organisations, statutory bodies and individuals who have contributed to the restoration and maintenance of the building. This includes grants towards the restoration of the Electric Palace from the Department of the Environment, Essex County Council, Tendring District Council, Eastern Arts Association and Harwich Town Council prior to it reopening on 29th November 1981.
The Heritage Lottery Fund
In October 2007 The Heritage Lottery Fund awarded a grant of £50,000 to the Harwich Electric Palace Trust for essential repairs including installation of supplementary weight-bearing main metal beams. 10% of the Grant was awarded towards educational initiatives to encourage people to learn about, become involved in and enjoy the heritage that this special building represents.
This organisation has sponsored specific events such as the screening of Pandora’s Box, with live musical accompaniment, on the 91st Anniversary.
Arts Council England
Between 1998 – 2003 the Electric Palace received a Lottery Fund Grant from the Arts Council England for £99,000.
East of England Development Agency
In 2003 EEDA agreed to fund a 40% grant towards survey, repair and redecoration of the Frontage and Entrance Lobby. This grant also funded the redesign and enhancement of the Electric Palace website. This was arranged through the Harwich Connexions Market Town Partnership.
